This is a few months late, but better late than never right? This past spring break, my friends Michael, Kathy, Ryan and Lawrence headed out to Southern Utah to see what there was to see.
We made a quick stop in Vegas. |
Then arrived at our first national park, Zion. |
Zion has a number of things to do, but one of the most popular is a hike to Angel's Landing. |
It was a long way to the top (if you wanna rock and roll), |
with some narrow paths, |
and sudden drop offs. |
I wouldn't recommend it to those with a fear of heights. |
Ryan and Lawrence provided the comic relief to our trip. |

We took a minute to savor the view. |
After Angel's landing we were pretty hot so we headed up the valley to cool off our feet at The Narrows, a river that flows up a very narrow canyon. The water was so cold it was literally painful to even stick your feet in. |
We got Ryan to jump in for $20 however. Money well spent. |
The next day we came back with more substantial equipment ready to hike far up The Narrows. |
There were many spectacular sites, |
and moments of awe, |
which woe us out after walking up-river for 3 hours. |
We couldn't nap too long because at the farthest point up-river, it started raining on us. Not only was the rain cold, but the fact that this canyon was known for flash floods didn't help our nerves. |
The next stop on our Utah adventure was Bryce National Park, |
home of the "hoodoos" (pillars of top-heavy rocks caused by erosion) |

After Bryce it was time to head back home to California, but after a week of not showering, a stop at Deep Creek Got Springs in the San Bernadino wilderness above Los Angeles was in order. |
Deep Creek is collection of naturally heated pools of varying temperatures, that are also right next to the Pacific Crest Trial. Many of the hikers, as well as weed smoking nudists, stop here for a dip. |
It was an awesome spring break and it made me want to see all the US national parks. |
